Opened in 1973 inside the One Astor Plaza office tower and named for developer Sam Minskoff. It is operated by the Nederlander Organization. The Lion King has played the house since 2006.

The house is in the Theater District, within walking distance of the Times Square-42nd Street subway and transit hub.
