Goodman Theatre, the company, was founded in 1925 as a memorial to playwright Kenneth Sawyer Goodman and was long based at the Art Institute of Chicago. In November 2000 the company moved to its current Dearborn Street complex, built behind the preserved facades of the Harris and Selwyn theatres. Capacity and year in this record refer to the 856-seat Albert Theatre, the main stage in the current building.
