Atlanta
The Fox Theatre opened in 1929 as a Fox Theatres movie palace, built on a site first planned as a Shrine temple, which accounts for its Moorish and Egyptian design. Threatened with demolition in the 1970s, it was preserved after the Save the Fox campaign and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976. It now hosts touring Broadway productions, Atlanta Ballet and concerts.
The theatre is in Midtown Atlanta, a short walk from the North Avenue MARTA station.
