The Phantom of the Opera plays its final Las Vegas performances this weekend at The Smith Center. The engagement, which began October 21 in Reynolds Hall, ends Sunday, November 1.

This is a tour stop ending, not a production closing. The North American tour travels next to Oklahoma City, where it plays the Civic Center Music Hall November 4-15, then Tulsa, Kansas City and Dallas, where it runs December 16 to January 3, 2027.

The production in the room

The touring production is Cameron Mackintosh's current version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, produced with LW Entertainment and NETworks Presentations. It is the staging that reopened at His Majesty's Theatre in London in 2021.

Seth Sklar-Heyn directs, based on Harold Prince's original direction. The design is Maria Björnson's original. Musical staging and choreography are by Gillian Lynne, recreated and adapted by Chrissie Cartwright.

Isaiah Bailey plays the Phantom. Jordan Lee Gilbert plays Christine Daaé, with Alexa Xioufaridou Moster as Christine at certain performances. Daniel Lopez plays Raoul. The company also includes Midori Marsh as Carlotta, Lisa Vroman as Madame Giry and Melo Ludwig as Meg Giry.

The score, with lyrics by Charles Hart and additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe, includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You" and "Masquerade." The book is by Richard Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber, from Gaston Leroux's novel.

The Las Vegas dates are part of the Toyota Broadway Las Vegas Series at The Smith Center. The series continues with Elf The Musical, November 24-29.

The last time Phantom lived in Las Vegas

This weekend's closing is measured against a longer record. Las Vegas previously had Phantom as a resident production: Phantom — The Las Vegas Spectacular, at The Venetian.

It opened June 24, 2006, in a theatre built inside the resort to resemble the Paris Opera House. Published accounts put the theatre's construction cost at more than $40 million. The production itself was a separate build, cut to 95 minutes with no intermission for the Las Vegas market, with a chandelier effect re-engineered for the room.

Anthony Crivello and Brent Barrett alternated as the Phantom. The production closed September 2, 2012, after nearly 2,700 performances across six years. The room is now the Venetian Theatre. Next week that same theatre takes in a different touring tenant: The Book of Mormon, November 4-15.

The Smith Center engagement is the opposite model from 2006. No purpose-built room, no cut-down running time, no open-ended sit-down. A full touring production loads in for 12 days, plays its dates and loads out.

Sunday, November 1 is the last Las Vegas performance on the tour's published itinerary.
