Wanted opens Nov. 8 at the James Earl Jones Theatre
The musical about twin sisters turned outlaws in 1893 Texas — staged earlier as Gun & Powder — arrives with Solea Pfeiffer, Liisi LaFontaine, Luke James and Ledisi.
Wanted opens Sunday, November 8, at the James Earl Jones Theatre, where it is now in previews. It is the next new musical to open on Broadway this fall.
The musical is inspired by Mary and Martha Clarke, twin sisters in 1893 Texas who become outlaws to pay their mother's sharecropper debt and save her home. The music is by Ross Baum; the book and lyrics are by Angelica Chéri. Stevie Walker-Webb directs. The company is led by Solea Pfeiffer, Liisi LaFontaine, Luke James and Ledisi. The running time is 2 hours 30 minutes, including intermission.
The production arrives with a record readers can check. It played earlier incarnations as Gun & Powder at Signature Theatre in Arlington and at Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey, under the same director — an out-of-town history most new musicals do not have by opening night.
What the reviews say on November 9 will decide how long the Jones keeps it. The production record is here.
