The Music Man plays its final Ahmanson performances, ending Nov. 8
Center Theatre Group's touring production, with Elliott Andrews as Harold Hill and Elizabeth D'aiuto as Marian Paroo, closes its Los Angeles run on Sunday, Nov. 8.
The Music Man ends its run at the Ahmanson Theatre on Sunday, November 8. The engagement opened October 27 — thirteen days, and then the tour moves on.
Center Theatre Group presents the national tour of Meredith Willson's musical: Elliott Andrews plays Harold Hill, the salesman who sells a boys' band to River City, Iowa, and Elizabeth D'aiuto plays Marian Paroo, the librarian who sees through him. Matt Lenz directs; Joshua Bergasse choreographs. The running time is 2 hours 40 minutes, including intermission.
Short tour stops are the economics of the road in miniature: a production this size loads into the Ahmanson, plays its dates and loads out on schedule, whatever the reviews say. There is no extension built into a thirteen-day booking.
For Los Angeles readers, the decision is this week or not at all. The production record is here.
