& Juliet, SIX and Stranger Things play their final Broadway performances on Jan. 3
Three long runs close on the same Sunday: & Juliet after 1,723 performances, SIX after 2,178, and Stranger Things: The First Shadow after twenty months at the Marquis.
Three Broadway long runs end on the same day: Sunday, January 3, 2027.
& Juliet, at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, opened November 17, 2022. At closing it will have played 1,723 regular performances and 20 previews, which places it among the 50 longest-running Broadway musicals. Playbill reports Broadway grosses of more than $175 million to date, and it was the first new musical of the 2022–23 season to announce recoupment. Its score is built from Max Martin's catalogue — "Since U Been Gone," "Roar," "Baby One More Time."
SIX, at the Lena Horne Theatre, will have played 2,178 performances. Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss's musical began at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, opened on Broadway October 3, 2021, and won the 2022 Tony Award for Best Original Score.
Stranger Things: The First Shadow, at the Marquis Theatre, opened April 22, 2025. The stage prequel, set in Hawkins in 1959, starts its final weeks from the weakest base of the three: in the week ending October 25 it played to 70.3% of capacity, the lowest figure on Broadway, at the lowest average ticket of the week.
The cheapest routes in are published and fixed: rush at the Sondheim box office for & Juliet, $49; the digital lottery through Broadway Direct for SIX, $45; rush at the Marquis for Stranger Things, $40, with a $45 digital lottery.
